This year, on Thursday, May 7th, 2009 The Elizabeth Fry Society of Saint John NB Inc hosted a dinner and silent auction at Lily Lake Pavilion. This event, entitled Rebels With A Cause, was an evening of awards, laughter, and coming together and was a great success. The Elizabeth Fry Society believes that this event raised awareness of not only what the Society does, but what women in the community have been able to achieve.

Four honorees were selected for their outstanding contribution to the Greater Saint John Community as their devotion and concern for the community is admirable. The four women selected were decided upon by our Board Members and Erin McLaughlin, Chair of the Rebels Committee.

REBELS WITH A CAUSE

The women selected were Juanita Black (Crescent Valley Tenants Community Association),Julie Dingwell (AIDS Saint John), Eileen McLaughlin (Saint John Volunteer Centre), and Janet McLaughlin (Crescent Valley Tenants Association). This was E. Fry’s first large fundraising event and the Society is looking forward to hosting their second annual Rebels With A Cause in 2010 with all funds raised going directly into programming and services provided by E. Fry. Thank you to everyone for your generous donations. Without you, we would not be able to continue running several of our programs and services. Thanks!
